    Nothing Really Matters

    Nothing Really Matters

Music & words by Ajay Mathur

I know that something happened to me, a different time in history

I come, you go, I say hello, you pass me by, you don't reply

Of all the changes you became, sometimes I feel that even I am not the same.

You filled the cup, I paid the bills, my love for you was never still

So long my love you had to leave, the end of all our make-believe

Of all the changes I've been through, the changes took and ran away with you

    Nothing really matters somehow;

nothing really matters without your love...

    Somehow, nothing really matters without

So listen now carefully, I was here and we were family

so long ago I can't believe, just what we gave, what we received

Of all the stones that we once threw, the ones that bounced across the tides were few

    Nothing really matters somehow;

nothing really matters without your love...

    Somehow, nothing really matters without

    yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    Listen now carefully!

    Nothing really matters somehow;

nothing really matters without your love...

    Somehow, nothing really matters without

nothing really matters…yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Of all the stones that we once threw, the bounce was high, the tide was new. But all we did was make-believe, just what we gave, what we received. The time for fun, now we just run in self defence, hiding from the sun

I know that something happened to me,

at a point in time of our history

    View from the Top

Drone planes are coming, will you run for cover?

Police trucks are rolling, can you hear their thunder?

There's way too much at stake right now,

fakes are on the stage, facing people's rage

    There is just so much at stake right now;

we've got to break the golden chains

And it's all right now! You better leave your trust behind

It's a losing game; they still have got left to play,

'cause the view from the top has got to change

Masters of deception, don't see the tide is turning,

in the peoples' resurrection, there is hope and burning

We don't get fooled by corporations, deceiving with their lies,

we don't get to criticize. Yes we see through coalitions,

    we know who's in cahoots

And it's all right now! You better leave your trust behind

It's a losing game; they still have got left to play,

'cause the view from the top is always the same

We can wait for changes till the end of time, will not happen if we can't decide

To stand up and look into their eyes and see how the darkness falls,

    lightning strikes!

And it's all right now! You better leave your trust behind

It's a losing game; they still have got left to play

and the view from the top has got to change

'cause the view from the top is always the same

Yes the view from the top has got to change

Pennies to Gold

by Ajay Mathur

Released 2014
Released 2014
Ajay Mathur has way too much precision and clarity to live in the shadows of overly-predictable Pop Rock. Indeed this is clearly evident in "Pennies to Gold” which methodically ups the ante to a very respectable level of catchy musical expression.
NOTES
"Pennies to Gold" is a beautiful song. It is beautifully arranged and sang very well, there's a lot of thought gone into this song and it shows, the lyrics are excellent and flows along nicely.

Ajay's EP 'Come See Conquer' nicely blends the genres pop and rock, twisting it into a fun, indie, marketable combination with a definitive Americana bent.
NOTES
"Let’s be honest for just a second shall we. I get a lot of albums sent my way for review and I mean a lot. Most
of them don’t do anything for me. They don’t always get happily placed in the CD player, but the ones that do
usually get a three song stay of execution and generally if they last past that they get my full unadulterated
attention. Sometimes I’m …

Surfing Girl

Released 2013
Released 2013
Surfing Girl, with its slightly rockabilly punk beat, celebrates the desire to connect in the new reality of being unreal.
NOTES
International artist Ajay Mathur is back with his upbeat new song, "Surfing Girl!” This fun, pop rock track has universal appeal as it cheekily broaches the topic of Social Media and its dominance of a generation.

Released 2011

"A Matter of Time by Ajay Mathur is an extremely entertaining, dynamic and brilliant catalogue of music. Its strong suit – the amazing amount of originality, creativity and rich conventional wisdom Mathur has to offer." - Cyrus Rhodes, IMD
NOTES
"The CD takes flight with Track 1 “How High Can You Fly” an inviting intro piece that flows and ebbs its way through to emotional fruition with its flowing rock rhythm, impressive Slide Guitar accents against hypnotic vocal vibe from Mathur. Track 2 “Making a Fool out of Me” is an upbeat follow-up that serves up driving rock rhythm against rocking guitar against a grand slam chorus. Track 3 “Mister” shifts gears a bit with its thought provoking …

fallin’ in love’s not fallin’ in a hole in the ground

Lyrics

standin’ up there on the higher ground so close to the edge that’s where i finally found you. you’d given it up wanna fly away, closing all the doors on memories that remind you. How high can you fly? it’s not easy you know. why give it a try? when goin’ back home’s just another lonely place to go. l turn your face to the sun and breathe in the air, take a look at all the people and the magic that surrounds you. there’s a cravin’ in your heart it’s a cry for love, there are moments in your life when you wish you had it all behind you. how deep can you fall? true love can be found. stop acting so small, ‘cos fallin’ in love’s not fallin’ in a hole in the ground. it’s not easy, not easy to fly, why give it a…. why give it a try? l at the corner of the street, every crossing of the road there are signals to the signs of things that will astound you. walk across the bridge to the other side, take a big step for the love that’s there inside you. how deep can you fall? true love can be found. why stand there so tall, ‘cos fallin’ in love’s not fallin’ in a hole in the ground. it’s not easy, not easy to fly, why give it a…. why give it a try? it’s not easy, not easy to fly, why give it a…. why give it a try? l standin’ up there on the higher ground so close to the edge that’s where you’re gonna find me - how high can you fly? It’s not easy - i’m giving it up wanna fly away, closing all the doors on memories that remind me - true love can be found. it’s not easy - why give it a try? ‘cos fallin’ in love’s not fallin’ in a hole in the ground

Story

'Temporary' is a cynical but serious take on the roles independent women need to play to make it in a fast-paced, multi-tasking world.

Lyrics

her cell phone in her handbag rings, between Fendi's assesoires, she's a full-time temporary, per temporary callin' card. yeah, she'll job before the camera, when her back's against the wall, an' reveals her perfect centrefold body yeah, an' let the final pieces fall. she goes on, an' on, an' on she goes, all temporary. the price she pays for independent means, all temporary. she' been a head-hunter's secretary, been a bunny in a playboy bar, she reserves the right of sayin' no, in her hardtop she'll go far, she owns her own address, oh man, she always gets her male, she's the feline of the species, she's for hire - but not for sale, she's for hire - but not for sale, she's for hire - but not for sale.... she goes on, an' on, an' on she goes, all temporary, the price she pays for independent means, all temporary, an' on an' on to get off she goes an dials a number, a finger-snap no strings attached an' free - all temporary

Story

'All For You' is an honest, back-to-the-basic, straight from the heart ballad that highlights Ajay's mellow side

Lyrics

here I stand, holding my head in my hands, waiting for your command, i'm all for you. so much love, that you've been giving to me, there's nowhere that i'd rather be, i'm all for you. all the way, you're so easy. i remember the time, when i wasn't mine, 'til you came. passing time, holding your hand in mine, can't wait to see what we will find, i'm all for you. i can see, from now to eternity, your love has opened to me, it's all for you. all the way, you're so easy. i was angry and blind, you helped me unwind; now i see. all the way, you're so easy. i'm a fortunate man, now that i understand what you mean to me. now i see, what you really mean to me, there's nowhere that i'd rather be, i'm all for you, all for you, i'm just for you

'Making a Fool Out of Me' is a bash at the inability to commit

Lyrics

your pretty face is changin' right before my eyes, the restless signs revealin' your fickle mind. you're so amused and used to havin' fun, now it's a classic case of hit an' run. i was so contented lovin', i told you that i love you….an' now you're, makin' a fool out of me, an' now you're, makin' a fool out of me, you're, makin' a fool out of me, me, o wow wow wow wow yeah ! ¤ at the end of the road baby, it's danger-zone, when summer's gone an' you are all alone. more than just infatuation, i told you that i love you, i told you that i love you, i told you that i…..  ¤ an' now you're, makin' a fool out of me, an' now you're, makin' a fool out of me, you're, makin' a fool out of me, me, o wow wow wow wow yeah ! ¤ you're, makin' a fool out of me, an' now you're, makin' a fool out of me, stop makin' a fool out of me girl... stop makin' a fool out of me girl... stop makin' a fool out of me, out of me, out of me girl, you're, makin' a fool out of me, me, o wow wow wow wow yeah!

Story

'Flying to the Moon', with its crossover country feel touches on the topic of a fulfilled life aging graciously, of long-term relationships with loss and loneliness that affects some of us at the twilight of our lives.

Lyrics

a little short of a hundred winters, weigh heavy upon her back and shoulders, like the load that she carries on her final road of days. her eyes have seen, many years and season, coming slowly, to a close, as the night approaches, now she just has her soul, in prayer to save. look at the stars, look at the sun (look at the sun), how the years go down like summer rain, when you're havin' fun. living it up in the night like a shooting star, now the tide is slowly turning, tomorrow i might be flying to the moon. in her fragile fingers she holds some flowers, fresh, from the mornin' dew an' every day she spends some hours, in memories beside her husband's tomb. each mornin' makes her day a little shorter, an' the road to the graveyard longer, to her agin' bones, that her waning strength betray. look at the stars, look at the sun (look at the sun), how the years go down like summer rain, when you're havin' fun. living it up in the night like a shooting star, now the tide is slowly turning, tomorrow i might be flying to the moon. oh how the years go down with laughter and with tears of joy and pain, now the seasons change, tide will turn and the infant spring will melt this snow away. look at the stars, look at the sun (look at the sun), how the years go down like summer rain, when you're havin' fun. living it up in the night like a shooting star, now the tide is slowly turning, tomorrow i might be flying to the moon

Story

“Mister” addresses the plight of people who have been forced to leave their homes because there’s no future there for them. It’s about refugees by circumstances and about the conflict and mistrust they face in the countries of refuge.

Lyrics

mister, won’t you understand, I’ve come here with my baby, from a far-off land. mister, won’t you ever believe, we’re only trying to survive, ain’t that plain to see. mister, we ain’t done no wrong, we ain’t done no wrong, now our only fault is that we’re young, looking for a home, yeah hey mister, you’re no different than me, you’ve got your needs and feelings, ain’t that plain to see ¤ mister, we’re so tired of running, we’ve been so long in cold and storm, although we saw it coming, yeah hey, mister, don’t you know it’s hard, to be somewhere you don’t belong, and try to make a start ¤ mister won’t give a helping hand, we’re trying to make the world the best can, you know, and i know we’ll make it. someone out there wants to make believe that we don’t need another refugee, we’ll make it, i know, i know we’ll make it, yes we will, yes we will…  ¤ mister, we’re so tired of running, we’ve been so long in cold and storm, although we saw it coming, yeah yeah, mister, mister, mister, we ain’t done no wrong, we ain’t done no wrong, now our only fault is that we’re young, looking for a home, yeahoo ¤ mister won’t give a helping hand, we’re trying to make the world the best can, you know, and i know we’ll make it. someone out there wants to make believe that we don’t need another refugee, we’ll make it, i know, i know we’ll make it. i know we’ll make it, we’ll make it yes we will, yes we will ¤ i know we’ll make it, yes we’ll make it, with a helping hand…

Pennies to Gold

Music by Ajay Mathur, Lyrics by Mary Lou von Wyl

coin in a well, no one can tell, where wishes they end and begin to enlighten your heart’s secret place, and cover with grace, the bittersweet tears that you cry in the deep of the night where you find, love and delight, move into day’s blinding light

how, how can I look in your eyes, open the veil of disguise that’s your pain

what’s there to gain, by hiding the love that you know is the best part of what you could be, try hard to see, and turn your back to the wind

now, now that I see through your eyes, oh, what a pleasant surprise waits for you

wishing wells do turn all your pennies to gold

now, now that I see through your eyes, oh, what a pleasant surprise waits for you

wishing wells do turn all your pennies to gold

turn all your pennies to gold
